Google Retiring Adsense Referral Ads

Google Retiring Adsense Referral Ads

It looks like Google is letting their Adsense Referral Ads die. So if you have referral ads on your site, you have till the end of August to get them off. In its place will be the new "Google Affiliate Network.

Google Affiliate Network

Google Affiliate Network is an offshoot of DoubleClick. DoubleClick will act as the new Google Affiliate Network for advertisers targeting users in the United States.

How will Google Affiliate Network work? Publishers will be able to apply to advertiser programs and get paid based on advertiser-defined actions instead of clicks or impressions.

What’s Not Clear

However, what’s not clear is: Will the referrals that you made be converted or void in the last week of August? Until Google clarifies this bit of information, it might be wise to run your reports and keep a record of the sales made.

Even though you may be a Google Publisher you will still have to apply to belong to this Google Affiliate Network. Here’s the link for more information on the Google Affiliate Network and to apply: http://www.google.com/ads/affiliatenetwork/.
