Gov. Brown Approves Amazon Sales Tax Deal
According to the Bloomberg, California Governor Jerry Born signed a bill in a compromise with Amazon.com Inc.
Currently Amazon has a one-year reprieve from California collecting sales taxes on the Internet. Both California and Amazon have agreed to work together for a national standard on taxing online sales. Thus, Amazon has until September 2012 before it begins to start turning over taxes to California if no national standard is in place.
What does it mean for affiliates? The 25,000 web-based entrepreneurs will have their Amazon affiliate status reinstated after the legislation is sign.
However, California is getting more good news from Amazon. It appears that Amazon is planning on hiring 10,000 workers in California, as well as, spend $500 million on facilities in the state. A definite lift to California and individuals looking for work.
