Ebooks Topping Books?

Ebooks Topping Books?

According to CNNMoney.com E-book sales have edged out paperback books for the first time.

Why? If you have an Nook, Kindle, Ipad, or Iphone you can begin reading an ebook immediately after download. Personally, I would like something bigger 3X5, however, whatever you choose, you will get greater access to millions of books, newspapers and magazines without stepping into a store.

I've noticed that Barnes and Noble offers Textbooks for the Nook, which I believe can be bought or rented. Now that is nice. I remember standing in long lines waiting for my turn to enter the bookstore just before classes were about to start. What a pain.

What do these devices mean for the book industry. It means that traditional book retailers will need to begin to adapt to an e-book centric industry. Some in the industry feel that it will be a matter of several years before the business begins to make a major shift.

The disadvantages are really personal preferences I suppose. For instance, I always loved the smell of a new book. That would be gone with an electronic eReader. And placing that book that I had bought into a personal library, no matter how small the library might be, gave me personal satisfaction. I guess I can for go the ego tripping.

I do see advantages for the student, and that would be having all their textbooks on a Nook, Kindle, Mac or PC. The student's backpack would be lighter. I would have loved to have had a lighter backpack when I was walking across campus. That load of books on my back was definitely uncomfortable.

People who travel. I have seen people with a Nook or Kindle, reading to their heart's content while waiting for their plane to be called. A definite boredom killer.

I guess with any technology there are pros and cons, but it won't stop it from moving forward, will it. It will be interesting to see how the new technology will affect the business of books and people. Will the old go completely away? Maybe, maybe not. But the new technology will have a strong place in the marketplace.

You can check out the devices and ebooks of  the Nook and Kindle on my website.

Panda Update-An Eye Opener

Panda Update-An Eye Opener

The Panda update was an eye-opener for many people. And the most important lesson learned was, do not put all your marketing eggs in one basket. If you are wise you will utilizing more than one marketing strategy.

Quality Content

Quality content is always important, but as time rolls on things change, especially on the Internet. It is always wise to recheck the content on your site to make sure that it is current and the information you are giving your readers are not obsolete. Keeping the information fresh, will encourage readers to visit again.

SEO

Whether you like it or not, SEO is important. It is the choice of your keywords that will draw the search engines to your site, along with quality content, of course. Take the time to utilize the proper keywords that identify your content. If you don't, you will lose an opportunity to receive targeted visitors that can lead to sales. With the wrong keywords, you will receive visitors that will only increase your bounce rate.

Article Writing

Article Writing is still a viable way to getting traffic to your site. However, as I stated in an article called, Article Marketing In Crisis?, article marketing campaigns should not be the only method that you use to get traffic, and you will have to be a little more selective of the article directories that will house your articles.

Pay-Per-Click

Pay-Per-Click advertising works hand-in-hand with your keywords and your content. The keywords used in your Pay-Per-Click campaign should be present in your landing page.

This is just a sampling of other avenues that you can pursue when marketing your site or your products. SEO and Pay-Per-Click has been around for a long time, and I don't think they will ever go away. And article marketing, it's was forced to evolve and improve with the maturing of the Internet.

Lesson learned, make sure you utilize more than one avenue of marketing. If you only choose one, you'll find it will take you longer to recover, if at all.

Google 's "Google +1" New Social Strategy

Google's "Google +1" New Social Strategy

Google's new social strategy now will include the Google +1 button. The +1 will be shown in both Adsense ads and within search. The + 1 doesn't affect the AdSense ad units on your site, but it can improve the way your pages appear in Google search.

The purpose and expectations of this personalized annotation is to help sites stand out by helping users see when their Google search results are personally relevant to them. The hope is the +1's will increase both your quality and quantity of Google search traffic.

Here's how it works. When the +1's are public, Google will be able to show any signed-in individual
+1 results. The Google +1 button will not just be for search results. They are also working on a +1 button that you can put on your web pages as well. This is another way in which Google can make it easier for a webmaster to allow people to recommend their content on Google search without leaving their site.

If you want to be notified when the +1 button is available for your site, you can sign up for email updates at their +1 webmaster site.  Please note: Currently the +1 button will appear for English searches only on Google.com, but they will then begin work on adding more languages in the future.
